Safety plan

A safety plan is a private list of what helps when distress hits. We do not score it. The crisis line numbers are below if you need them right now.

If you are in immediate danger or thinking about hurting yourself, call or text 988, or 911 if it is an emergency.

Step 1, Warning signs

Thoughts, images, mood, situation, behavior. What tells you a crisis may be coming?

Step 2, Things you can do alone

Coping strategies, distractions, anything to take your mind off.

Step 3, Social distractions

People and places that take your mind off without you having to tell them why.

Step 4, People you can reach out to

People you can ask directly for support. Their phone numbers help.

Step 5, Professionals and agencies

Therapist, doctor, lactation consultant, doula, urgent line.

Step 6, Make the environment safer

If lethal means are nearby, write a plan to remove or limit access to them.

My reasons to keep going

Anything that matters: people, identity, faith, future moments. We come back to these.
